Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated 23 August 2026

This policy explains what happens to your registration fee in every situation. It applies to all payments made to FirstHack 2026 for FirstHack 2026 through this website.

1. What you are paying for

The registration fee (₹200 per participant, or the early-bird price if one applies at the time of payment) reserves your individual slot in FirstHack 2026. It covers your participation, access to mentors during the event, platform access for submissions, and eligibility for prizes and certificates.

2. Cancellation by you

Registration fees are non-refundable once payment is completed. When you register, your slot is reserved and mentor capacity is allocated against it, which is why we cannot release it back.

You may cancel your participation at any time by emailing support@firsthack.in, but no refund is issued for voluntary cancellation, non-attendance, or withdrawal after registration.

3. Cancellation by the organisers

If we cancel FirstHack 2026 entirely, every paid participant is refunded in full. Refunds are initiated within 7 working days of the cancellation announcement and reach your original payment method within 14 working days, depending on your bank.

If the event is postponed rather than cancelled, your registration automatically carries over to the new dates. If the new dates do not work for you, you may request a full refund within 7 days of the postponement being announced.

4. Failed and duplicate payments

These are always refunded — they are not covered by the non-refundable rule above:

  • Money debited, registration not confirmed. Failed transactions are usually auto-reversed by your bank within 5–7 working days without any action from you. If it has been longer, email us with your ticket code and transaction reference and we will trace it.
  • Charged twice for the same registration. Email us and we will refund the duplicate within 7 working days.
  • Any amount charged in excess of the advertised fee. Refunded in full.

5. Disqualification

Registrations cancelled by the organisers for plagiarism, harassment, or breach of the Terms & Conditions are not refunded.

6. How to request a refund

Email support@firsthack.in from the address you registered with, including:

  • Your full name and ticket code
  • The date, time and amount of the transaction
  • The payment reference or order ID from your bank/UPI app
  • A short description of the issue

We acknowledge every refund request within 2 working days and, where a refund is due, initiate it within 7 working days. Once initiated, the money is returned to the original payment method — we cannot refund to a different account, card or UPI ID.

7. Processing time

After we initiate a refund, the time to reach you depends on your bank and payment method — typically 5–7 working days for UPI and cards, and up to 14 working days in some cases. We will share the refund reference number so you can follow up with your bank if needed.
